Introduction

A textbook on Media and Politics from 20 years ago would look dramatically different from a textbook on that topic today. We cannot necessarily say that about the other fields of study in American politics, such as Congress or judicial politics. For while there have certainly been recent changes in, say, committee structures in Congress, I would argue that the changes in the American media system in recent years have been much more dramatic.
