This heading will strike some readers as bizarre. Are we really devoting a page of a book about literacy to explaining how to enter a classroom? The answer, of course, is yes and the reason will be clear if you read the introduction to this section. First impressions matter, and they matter especially in teaching where a blend of authority and credibility are essential ingredients in being successful.
