Set Oral Roles: creating a debate
The objectives of the exercise are to: (1) do away with the ‘usual way of doing things’; (2) stimulate debate and discussion around a key issue; (3) enhance pupils’ oral skills.

5 mins The teacher introduces the session. 5 mins The teacher confirms key roles: Chair, Presenter, Opposer, Discussants (as
many as there are pupils left). The children should have been given a week to prepare their roles.
