Drag queens are not the only loners lustering in the language. Some words have gone further. I discover that water, “el agua,” is male, another drag queen. But then I heard a vendor selling water. “¡Agua Fría!” he chanted. “Cold water!” The sex of the adjective must match the sex of the noun, so if water is a transvestite male, why was the adjective (cold) put in female form (fría)?
