Working Effectively with Resistance in Groups

The field of counseling has focused a considerable amount of thought on the dynamic of resistance in the therapeutic process. Although much of the literature frames resistance as a client issue, we prefer to view it as both a window into how each group member confronts change and the interplay between individual dynamics and those of the group. From this holistic perspective, resistance can be viewed and assessed as inter-and intrapersonal phenomena.
