The film value chain is another name for the vertical link-to-link analysis that helps us understand how the revenue streams within the film business can be understood on a ‘micro’ basis.

Until recently, films were released first in their country of origin and subsequently in international territories. Their release to home entertainment also had a set pattern, with a theatrical release being followed by a sequence of well-defined ‘windows’, that included DVD, Pay TV and Free TV.
