ABSTRACT

To complement the more detailed accounts in the earlier chapters, the following section consists of brief personal overviews by professional directors, practitioners and teachers of TIE in their own countries, identifying the specific aims and characteristics of their work, and outlining the challenges they face. Allowing for individual approaches and emphases, we have organised their inputs under three broad headings:

Context: the ways in which TIE (or TIE-related practice) in that country has developed and adapted to a changing world over the past 5-10 years;

Practice: a discussion of one or more recent productions that exemplify particularly well that company’s current achievements, together with a note on methods and models used or developed, and how those have changed in recent years;

Vision: aspirations and challenges faced in the forthcoming years.
