ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some of the more frequent manifestations and indicators of dyscalculia and discusses the signifi cance of the 31 indicators that make up the Dyscalculia Checklist.

There are a number of key behaviours and concepts that are highly signifi cant for anyone who is trying to learn mathematics. Some of the 31 indicators listed in this chapter are at the very fundamental level of arithmetic and some relate to more advanced levels, but any could create potential barriers, intellectual and emotional, to learning mathematics.
