The start of the digital age
The extent of social changes as a result of digital technological innovations is unknown at the start of the digital age, although the industrial age can provide an indication of the scale that may eventuate. It appears that teaching and learning will evolve over time as people become increasingly connected, technological innovation continues, participation in society is re-examined, and learning theory develops or evolves further. All aspects of society are connected at some level and change in teaching and learning is connected to change in other aspects of education. Change in teaching and learning in the digital age is interwoven with change in national curricular, teachers’ work, students’ experiences at school, schooling structures and educational policies.
