ABSTRACT
Ultimately, one looks towards camp administration for the answers to many of the problems which arose in the centres and hostels. Managers and directors were responsible for more than the smooth administrative functioning of their establishments. With them rested the morale of their community. Under their guidance immigrants received their initiation into the Australian way of life. They represented the vital link between being an immigrant and becoming an Australian.
