ABSTRACT

Do you remember the teachers Mr. Keating in the film Dead Poets’ Society and Louanne in the film Dangerous Minds? Or Harry Potter’s headmaster Dumbledore? Popular fiction is full of teachers who achieve unbelievable successes by managing to motivate and support their students, even under the most difficult conditions. What all these teachers have in common is that they convey the impression that they do what they do with such perseverance and creativity because they love their job passionately. This chapter is about teachers’ love or passion for teaching. It explores the hypothesis that teachers who enjoy their occupation will invest greater effort in their work and achieve better results.
