ABSTRACT

The redevelopment of the 1960s office building at 55 St Andrews Place at Treasury Reserve in Melbourne, Victoria, in Australia represents a demonstrable example of how an existing building with poor environmental operational and functional performance can be cost effectively redeveloped to achieve best practice performance. In order to understand the steps taken to achieve this significant turnaround in environmental operational and functional performance, it is important to understand the building's history, existing issues and prevailing office quality standards.
