ABSTRACT
The nature of adventurous recreation is steadily changing. The places that we go to climb, ski, and mountain bike are becoming more than merely places to recreate; they are places where one can order a club sandwich with fries and a Coke, gain access to an artificial indoor or modified outdoor activity venue, and buy the latest brand-name clothing and equipment. In these places, members of the public can eat, play, and shop – often all under one roof.
