This chapter will:
define the different kinds of green roof
identify the structural issues that may affect green roof choice
cover retrofitting to existing buildings and incorporation in new developments
describe green roof components/media as appropriate to type of roof
cover planting and maintenance
identify biodiversity and other ecosystem services
outline their use in development mitigation
consider the issue of ‘whole life’ costs.
