Tassafaronga residents and local renters.1 As the OHA’s plans for redevelopment

moved forward, a competitive selection process was conducted to select the

designers of the new Tassafaronga Village.

David Baker and Partners Architects (DBPA) of San Francisco was selected

to design the project, which called for the redesign of the entire site, including

180 rental housing units, a neighborhood recreation and community center, a

playground, pocket parks and open spaces, and pedestrian pathways that connect

Tassafaronga Village to the surrounding residential neighborhoods and to one of

the few public parks in the area.
