ABSTRACT

Sex between women has a precarious place in history. Even today, there are plenty of “experts” who deem that sex between women is unnatural. It is not dicult to nd therapists doing reorientation therapy. Women in same-sex relationships need therapy as much as anyone else. Whereas it can be dicult to nd a therapist who is well versed in working with lesbians, it is even more challenging to nd a therapist who is adept at working with lesbian couples. Signicantly more dicult than this is nding a therapist who is trained, experienced, and competent to do sex therapy with lesbian couples. Perhaps it is for this reason that there is a paucity of empirical research and little written about sex therapy with lesbian couples. It is time for this area of the sexuality therapy eld to develop so that women in same-sex relationships having sexual dif-culties can more easily nd the help that they need and deserve.
