Once you have the spine of the play, you must discover the spine of your character. What overwhelming desire compels your character throughout the play and motivates your behavior from start to finish? What do you want? What is your life goal? What is your psychological and spiritual drive and desire? What is the spine of your character? How does this relate to the spine of the play?
