ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors suggest that network literacy is a vital extension of the ability to read and write. The model of cross-curricular projects supported by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), developed from a project embracing English and Dance, which widened to include Music and Drama, and eventually covered every aspect of the school curriculum, through the Caribbean Project. The model that Lawrence developed at Holy Cross is based on a philosophical position that regards knowledge as a seamless fabric. The Holy Cross School Aims to learn about the work of occupational therapists, and the role they play in the community. The authors provide examples of whole-school integrated approaches. The pace of technological development is such that the world many children face outside school demands ICT competence. E-commerce is growing, with business transactions on the web and jobs related to this form of technology rapidly increasing.
