ABSTRACT

The first thing that you need to do when thinking about starting a cross-curricular project based around the visual arts is to be inspired by a starting point yourself. This can happen in a number of ways. You might be excited by an innovative initiative run by an organization (for example, a scheme run by a museum or gallery or another charity promoting the arts in schools). Alternatively, an encounter with an object, person, or passage from a book or television programme in the course of your everyday life may set off a creative spark that could be developed into an engaging project for pupils at some point.
