ABSTRACT

Lucy’s junior and infant Roman Catholic school opened with 76 children in 1967. It now has some 250 children on roll with 50 per cent from the predominantly middle-class suburban parish and 50 per cent from outside, which makes for a good social balance. There are seven classes, eight teachers, and a playing field on the attractive site. Each day there is half an hour’s specialist remedial attention for the five children in each class who are academically weakest.
