Summary and Conclusions
Why is this, the last chapter, so hard to write? I feel that one of the problems in writing a summary is that the author is involved in telling the reader (retrospectively) that the text should have been read 'this' way. A conclusion is difficult for similar reasons — one is supposed to draw all the various contradictory strands together, to give a sense of 'coherence' and completeness to something essentially unfinished. But I must try — if only to see what the conclusion is.
