Strategic growth and the provision of services and infrastructure in South Hampshire

It will be recalled that the spectre of a new town in South Hampshire proved suffi - ciently unpalatable to be hastily rejected in favour of further study on the prospects for accommodating growth in the sub-region. The further study produced recommendations that were yet more worrying from a local authority political and bureaucratic point of view, and were also duly ignored in favour of a characteristic British muddle of tripartite working with a lead role for Hampshire County Council (HCC).
