The term ‘phenomenology’ is derived from two Greek words, ‘phainomenon’ (from ‘phainein’ meaning ‘to show’) and ‘logos’ in the present context meaning ‘study’.The composite meaning in terms of etymology is therefore, ‘the study of things shown’ (Macey, 2000, p. 297).
