ABSTRACT

Professional development in a primary school is the responsibility of the school’s professional development coordinators (PDC), or of the headteacher acting in that capacity. Whoever has this responsibility will need to work closely with colleagues and to liaise effectively with senior staff and governors. Professional development coordinators will also have three other significant roles in relation to the professional development of colleagues. These are: • To be an exemplar of good practice themselves, to demonstrate appropriate

attitudes, acceptable behaviour and commitment to colleagues and to show a concern for their own professional development as well as for that of all other members of the school staff.
