ABSTRACT
The transition from day care to the hospice marked a radical change in my fieldwork. The hospice was only situated about a minute’s walk away from day care but, as the comments above suggest, it was a very different kind of place: day care was a location for ‘living’, the hospice a space for ‘dying’.
