Far from being exhausted, Marxism is still very young, almost in its infancy; it has scarcely begun to develop.
(Sartre 1963: 30) To introduce a Marxist perspective, we might sketch a Marxist response to the social construction position described in Chapter 3. If the social construction position can be summarized as ‘Together we can be what we want to be’, then the Marxist response might be ‘Let’s stop fooling ourselves!’
