ABSTRACT

Uneven bad temperament happens from time to time throughout the whole body, for example in the case of dropsies that are specifically within the skin, in fevers that are named agues, and in almost all other sorts of fevers, apart from those that are termed consumptive; for it arises in every part of the body, when that part is swollen, inflamed, gangrenous, stricken with erysipelas or cancerous. In this category belong what is called elephantiasis, cancerous sores and shingles. However, all these conditions come about together with fluxes; but if the parts have been affected solely by the qualities, uneven bad temperaments happen without any suppurating material, when the parts have been cooled, burnt, exercised more than usual, left idle or subjected to some other similar state.
