ABSTRACT

The discussion in Chapter 2 has enabled us to see that dialectics were embedded in Paul’s interpretation of Scripture. His identification of antitheses there, together with a progressive argument which pointed to the experience of Spirit within the community as that which resolved the conflicts, constitutes his major contribution to Christian theology. It is even more important than his teaching of righteousness by means of faith, because his interpretative method is what made it possible for him to frame and to argue his distinctive doctrine of justification.
