ABSTRACT

This chapter defines and discusses organizational conflict within a sport enterprise setting. Three viewpoints on conflict are introduced: (1) traditional; (2) managed conflict; and (3) interactionist. The chapter then details the ‘Conflict Process Model’ that posturizes the intentions of conflict. Next, the sources of conflict are examined, with a discussion of contextual factors such as age, culture and gender leading to a discussion of conflict resolution. The chapter concludes with a discussion on organizational misbehaviour and how it can be managed in sport enterprises.
