ABSTRACT
As mentioned previously, whilst Family Studies does not exist in the UK, it is a common discipline in the USA, Europe and Australia. Much of what goes under the label of Family Studies draws heavily upon the modernist tradition and seeks to find solutions to particular family problems or, indeed, problem families. In recent years, however, a small number of authors, from very widely different backgrounds, have made pleas to develop a new form of Family Studies.
