ABSTRACT
At first sight it might seem that previous tirades against materialism leave me essentially unsympathetic to business and industry. This is simply not the case; rather, I want to see business and industries take up and extend their activities, most especially combining material and non-material aspects of their operation to build entirely new forms of enterprise. The development of successful medical science generated huge markets for business and industry in the areas of medical technology, hospital and clinic construction, drug manufacture and all kinds of goods and services. Just so, in my view, business and industry can play a significant and major role in Family Studies.
