ABSTRACT

If you are studying other science subjects, the qualitative approach may seem strange to

you. If you conduct a pure qualitative study, you collect data from interviews, diary

studies, observations, etc. but you do not turn it into numbers of any kind. To anyone

educated within the empirical tradition of the scientific method, it is almost automatic to

start counting and codifying things-but, of course, as soon as you do you are using

quantitative methods.
