ABSTRACT

Having decided on your aim and hypotheses you will need to decide who you are going

to study and how you will select them-or in other words who your sample will be. (You

must, of course, also consider sampling if you are studying non-human animals or

carrying out a content analysis.)

First decide which group (or target population) you are interested in. The term target

population is used to mean ‘all the members of the group in which you are interested’.
