White balance Different light sources produce differently coloured light. For instance, indoor light from light bulbs has a yellow tinge, while outdoor light from the sun is bluer. The human eye adapts automatically to these differences, but the camera must be adjusted electronically for the prevailing light conditions to reproduce colours correctly.
