ABSTRACT

Video lighting If additional lights are needed, three 800 Watt video lights are a suitable minimum (Figure 9.9). The key light (main light source) is placed to the side of the camera from high up. A fill light is then positioned at about 45 degrees to the first to fill in shadows. The fill light should be less intense, so reflect the light from a flat surface, such as the ceiling, or a specially designed reflector; alternatively, use a diffusing filter in front of the light. Then set up a backlight, pointing towards the back of the subject’s hair (not into the camera lens), to bring them away from the background. If you have a fourth light it can be used to light the background itself.
