ABSTRACT

Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa with a population of 31.7 million people and GDP per capita of US$453 in 2009. It lies astride the equator and has a territory of 241,039km2, of which 85 per cent is land and 15 per cent water. The country shares borders with five countries: Sudan in the north, Kenya in the east, the United Republic of Tanzania in the south, Rwanda in the southwest and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the west.
