ABSTRACT
The data that is used by sociologists may be ‘primary’ or ‘secondary’. Primary data is collected by the researcher at first hand, mainly through surveys, interviews, or participant observation. Secondary data is available from some other source, and comes in various forms. It has been produced and processed before receiving the attention of the sociologist.
