ABSTRACT
This unit is based around the fascinating discovery – in 1931 – of a sheaf of letters sent to a transported convict many years earlier by his wife back in England. The letters themselves are presented as a basis for an evocative performance project, focusing on the life of a particular convict and how the punishment inflicted on him affected not only his life but also that of his wife and family left behind.
