ABSTRACT
This research will show how the issues of choice, decision making, and participation have been addressed through an investigation of the work of the Reception and Year 1 children I teach. It will show how the teaching strategies I employed changed as I came to realize the effects on the quality of educational experience of the children, especially of my judgements in relation to their opportunities to choose and to take responsibility.
