ABSTRACT
The mixed age junior class of twelve girls and eleven boys is organized in year groups with nine in Year 4 and seven in each of Years 5 and 6. Most areas of the curriculum are undertaken by children working in year groups, although for both science and design/technology groupwork often presents the opportunity of working with children of other ages. All children study the same area of the curriculum at the same time.
