Children’s music

Children are inventive and capable as music makers. They make music independently of being shown or taught how to do so. For very young children, this music is often intrinsic to other activity, as part of play, movement or the ordinary round of daily life. They improvise songs spontaneously as early as they acquire language. Left to play with instruments, they meticulously investigate the sound world offered and go on to pattern and order sounds into musical shape.
