ABSTRACT

Are your school days a time you like to remember, or something you’d rather forget? Think back to those days and what was good about them: games in the playground? Having a laugh with your friends? Your most positive memories are probably connected with being a member of a group, feeling good about being included. Or were you ever chosen last, the one that others wouldn’t work with, never shared secrets with, and walked home alone? This is exclusion at its simplest, most fundamental level, with the stress and anxiety that affect children’s ability to learn and to thrive.
