ABSTRACT

Apart from their impact on marital quality, however, deficiencies in the communication between partners have also been related to the occurrence and maintenance of psychiatric problems, as we have pointed out in chapter 2. This is particularly the case for depression and alcoholism, but it may also apply to eating disorders. In point of fact, communication problems are among the prevailing issues mentioned in the clinical literature about married AN and BN patients, although empirical research data are seldom provided to support this.
