ABSTRACT
From the very beginning psychoanalytic ideas have been used to understand a wide variety of human activities, and Freud himself was the first to do this. His recent biographer Peter Gay (1988) notes that between 1905 and 1915 Freud published papers on literature, law, religion, education, art, ethics, linguistics, folklore, fairy tales, mythology, archaeology, the psychology of schoolboys and war.
