Psychology and propaganda
What is propaganda? There is no easy answer, to this since it depends on what attitudes you hold to start with. If you agree with a political message you might view it as a statement of fact, but if you do not agree with it you might see it as manipulative propaganda. The following sections explore some of the key features of persuasive messages and propaganda using examples from three military conflicts of the twentieth century. We will then go on to look at some of the techniques used by politicians in their attempt to get us to agree with them. We will start by looking at what we mean by propaganda and persuasive messages.
