ABSTRACT
In this chapter we will look at the development of writing from early stages to the more sophisticated writing that many children in Key Stage 2 are capable of producing. Many factors associated with developing early writing continue to be important in later years as children develop their writing skills. We will consider the changing nature of written communication and think about how this might affect the ways in which we teach children about writing.
