ABSTRACT

Part of the role of an educational psychologist (EP) is to provide assessment, consultancy and interventions to enable children (including those with emotional and behavioural difficulties) to access education. In contrast with most counsellors working in schools, they do not see children as a result of self-referral but when teachers andor parents ask for their involvement. By this time, teachers, parents and children are often under a great deal of strain. Having already put in considerable time and energy to no avail, there is likely to be a sense of frustration, distress and hopelessness around the difficulty ever being resolved.
