ABSTRACT
Given that the scientific approach is accepted (and it should be pointed out at this stage that not all psychologists do in fact accept ithumanistic psychologists, for example, regard it as being too mechanistic and insufficiently individualistic to deal with the complexities of human experience), what does this imply for the way in which research is carried out? Three points need to be considered here: objectivity; reliability; validity.
