ABSTRACT
Of the 0.5 per cent of people with active epilepsy in the UK, 20 per cent continue to have seizures despite adequate treatment with anti-epileptic drugs. Of these, it is estimated that 30#40 per cent have focal seizures, i.e. about 15#20,000 people. Surgical treatment will be an option for some of them.
