ABSTRACT

One of the areas in which teachers are undoubtedly in partnership with other people is working with pupils with special educational needs (SEN). Although some SEN will be fleeting and the curriculum and teaching can be adjusted to accommodate specific pupils, others will be more complex and will involve the expertise of several different people. Bringing this together so that it all works smoothly is taxing and a task which needs considerable management skills. In this chapter I will discuss some of the problems and possibilities and give advice concerning the ways in which you, the teacher, can organise yourself and the other adults who will be working with you in your classroom.
